Playstation 4 $299 for Redcard holders at Target - Matches Black Friday Prices: EXPIRED

If anyone is considering purchasing a Playstation 4 for Christmas, Target's current prices match the Black Friday price for Red-card holders. The Star Wars Battlefront and Uncharted bundles are $349. When you add the promo code LIST, that brings it down 10%, and your redcard brings it down another 5% to $299. BE AWARE though, the Star Wars game is a digital copy that can take hours and hours (as in almost days) to download and evidently the game only comes with about half of it's total content, the rest will cost you $50 more online. PLUS Sony is charging a yearly online subscription fee of $50. The game doesn't get stellar reviews (there is no campaign)and neither does the Playstation (the Ps3 has more features), so even with the bundle it's a whole lotta money (299+50+50=399) for not much product (In my opinion).

UPDATE: Celestial Seasonings tea Coupon Deal--- $0.50 at Safeway, Oct 2013

A great deal can be had on Celestial Seasoning's tea right now.  A Smart Source coupon in the Oct 6 Sunday paper for $1.00 off one box can be combined with a low WINCO price of about $2.48/box  for $1.48 or less for a box of tea.  Also, some of the boxes come with a $1.00 off 2 boxes coupon (they are inside the box), so these can be opened and used as well for stock up purposes (just reseal the box to help keep the bags fresh).  We are fans of Sleepytime and Tension Tamer. A bag of each in a cup of hot water does wonders at bed time. If you missed this opportunity keep your eyes peeled, they seem to run this promo at least once a year. (See Below for a Better Deal!)

UPDATE:   Today the price of Celestial Seasonings Tea at Safeway dropped to $2.00 a box. Since our Safeway let me  "double" the $1.00 off coupon  up to $.0.50 cents more, the result was $2.00-$1.50 off for a grand total of $0.50!! And if you are blessed enough to get a box with the $1.00 off 2 boxes coupon inside, you might even consider it FREE (but don't--it still cost you $0.50).

Need to Cancel Amazon Prime?

Another reason to appreciate Amazon.com. . . I signed up for Amazon Prime recently to get free shipping for my Bibliophile Husband's most recent purchase. However afterward I  forgot to cancel it and when a month passed I noticed a $79.00 charge on my bank statement. A little research showed that if you cancel the service before using it they will refund you the entire amount. I did, they did, and within 24 hours the amount was posted (in the deposit column this time) to my account. Kudos to Amazon for great customer support!

EBATES are for the frugal

My great frugal move this year has been to make my online purchases through ebates.com. When our range died It was a slow painful death, first the 'clean' function, then one burner, then another (along with their sockets) and finally the baking element. Anyway, when I ordered a replacement range through Sears.com I did it through Ebates, and ended up receiving over $90.00 (about 6%) which will be posted to my Paypal account in November.

Lessons on the range purchase? The drop in ranges (which we have) are SO much more expensive than the slide in or stand alone. If I ever have to replace it again I'll have someone saw away the woodwork under the oven and buy a slide in or stand alone (if the measurements work out). Huge difference in price.

UPDATE: The workers informed me that it wasn't hard at all to adjust things to put in a stand alone range, but decided to stay with the drop in anyway (it got good reviews and the husband suggested, 'just have them put in the one you picked', so taking his advice).

Check out the LYNX for Fred Meyer's Doorbuster Sale! (Aug 18 2012)

Fred Meyer is having one of their DOORBUSTER SALES-- this one with a Back to School flair. I'm planning to pick up some binders (if we need them) and some of the Mead Graph Paper Spirals if they're included in the 50% off sale. Also will check out the final price on Sharpies (my buy price is 50 cents).

75% off at Target on School Supplies

Today I stocked up on paper and picked up a few folders at the Target in Sherwood, Oregon. They were all 75% off, which made for a great buy, however the dictionaries which were grouped with the other supplies were not so discounted, so shop with care. They had loads of composition books, folders, Spiral bound notebooks and paper (wide and college ruled).

Way Overdue Visit to the Blog!

Hi all, Way too long since I've stopped by. Still working on genealogy. Daughter's graduated and getting ready to start PCC (she's delighted about not starting her adult life by jumping into debt).
My savings plans consist of continuing to shop at WINCO, reducing shopping trips (saving on gas) and using what I buy (reducing waste). My kids are missing my couponing, but guess I'm just not ready to resume it yet. For more a reality check, listen to the radio show hosted by Dave Ramsey for some fabulous perspective on debt. I'm blessed because my husband purposed shortly after our marriage to pay off our home early. I submitted less than eagerly, but after paying our small (but adequate) home off in 15 years (and mostly on one income) , I see his wisdom.

Take Care, Lynn
