Stores Open Thanksgiving Afternoon? Please Don't Shop.

I am very disturbed by the trend of stores to do "Business as Usual" on Thanksgiving Day. Stores that remain open for the entire day are Ebenezer Scrooges, trying to squeeze that last dime, and family time, from their minimum wage employees. I can see being open for a few hours in the morning, but really, is it necessary to be open the whole day? It's important that our country, that any country, have occasional corporate days of rest and reflection. This should be one of them.

  1. Thank you for saying this. It's sad that we have turned into a society that feels a need to shop every minute of the holiday season. This time of the year is about giving love and time, not buying "things" from big-box stores.
